Use this free shaft torque calculator to convert motor power and rotational speed into torque. The result is useful for early mechanical design checks, gearbox sizing and shaft calculations.

Torque Calculator

Enter power and RPM to calculate.

Formula Used

T = 9550 × P / N

Where T is torque in N·m, P is power in kW and N is rotational speed in RPM.

Example

For a 2.2 kW motor running at 1440 RPM, the calculated torque is approximately 14.6 N·m.

What This Does Not Check

This calculator does not determine shaft diameter, fatigue life, keyway stress, bearing loads or the required factor of safety. Those checks depend on the complete load case, material, geometry and duty cycle.
